On a gorgeous Saturday afternoon in Boston, Ashley and Alex said “I do” at one of the most stunning wedding venues in Boston, The State Room at 60 State Street. Ashley and Alex met at Boston College as undergraduates, and on their wedding day, they were surrounded by friends who have watched them go from singles, to dating to engaged. I always love hearing the stories of how the women and men I photograph met and ultimately, decided this was their one. Every couple, every wedding I see differently, because every one of their stories is completely unique. Discovering that uniqueness is one of my favorite parts of my job as a photographer.
Ashley prepared to get married at the Ames Hotel in downtown Boston, just steps away from The State Room. The overwhelming architectural design allows beautiful light to spill into their suites and plenty of space to spread out. Her bridesmaids wore a gorgeous palette of pastels and it translated beautifully to the photographs. More details of each portion the day are within the blog below.

We walked over to Post Office Square for their wedding day first look and family portraits. The lush overhang from the trellis in the park sets a gorgeous backdrop to set couples away from the rest of the bustle in the square. Alex was waiting for Ashley under the trellis, and when he saw Ashley’s his face it beamed of joy. I love when couples choose to do a first look because it gives them 10 minutes alone, probably the only handful of minutes they have all day.
Their wedding ceremony at The State Room was set against their trademark, floor to ceiling window backdrop, that has been stunning wedding guests for decades. Situated right in the heart of Boston, rain, snow, sun or fog, the view every day is simply incredible. True Vine Studios provided the gorgeous archway over their ceremony. Ashley surprised Alex by adding a component of a traditional Greek ceremony, and their family crowned both with a stefana during their vows.
If you’re getting married at The State Room, I highly suggest utilizing the opportunity to have your engagement photographs lit up on the path guests take to your wedding ceremony site. It’s a jaw-dropping and highly personal way to have your guests enter the space where you’ll say your vows.
As I expect no less from Boston College graduates, this was a FUN crowd. The bride, groom, and all their family had an incredible celebration of this beautiful new beginning. The staff at The State Room made their wedding day flow so smoothly. This wedding venue simply can’t be beat in Boston.
