This spring, I had the great honor of photographing the wedding of two people who I proudly call friends, Christen Perreault and Johnny Burke. These two entrepreneurs got married at The Gardens at Elm Bank, part of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, in Wellesley, MA. While we’ve only known each other a few years (Johnny’s office used to abut mine in the Seaport!), from the first time we struck up a conversation it was clear we shared the same big idea, hungry for success attitude in life. Johnny popped the question in the winter of 2015, when and they asked me to be their Photographer for Life, I was beyond happy: I was elated. It’s incredibly humbling when two people who truly know you outside of your professional life, choose to invest in you as business partner for life.
If you’ve never been to the Gardens at Elm Bank, I think the best way to describe it is modern country. While the grounds (acres and acres) of stunning flowers, fountains and statues are nothing short of a fairy tale, the Hunnewell Building where the receptions are held makes this venue truly unique. Vaulted ceilings with overarching beams give the massive room a loft feel, with white brick walls touching off the effect. Live, potted plants hang every 20 feet on the walls, expertly blending the beauty of the grounds with the rustic indoor design. Here’s a peek at the space.
I was lucky enough to work with some incredible wedding vendors this day, so if you’re wondering about any of the wedding details (how about those drop dead gorgeous lights??) check out the links below. Kayleigh, the Elm Banks’ Director of Events, and Brittany Vogel, were both a dream to work with, making sure myself and my team were hydrated all day and ensuring that the bride and groom had a PERFECT experience. I hope you enjoy Christen and Johnny’s sweet story on today’s blog.

Johnny opens his surprise gift from Christen before the wedding. I may or may not have had a part in creating that…but I’m pretty sure he loved it 🙂
Christen and Johnny both got ready for the big day at Hotel Indigo, in Newton, MA. I loved all the bold, bright colors in her room.
Johnny gave Christen a bracelet that was a family heirloom. He added diamonds to each square to give this something old a little something new.
Their new puppy Brusco joins in on all the wedding day happy! When in doubt, bring your dog 🙂
Sadly, Christen’s dad passed away a little over a year before they got married. But she and her brother did a pretty amazing sibling dance together that got everyone on their feet.
