Christina and Garrett’s wedding at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Boston in Cambridge was an occasion I’ll remember for many reasons, not the least of which were the incredible Boston skyline views afforded to us by the Sonesta’s front and center Charles River location. I have always loved photographing weddings in urban areas, but shooting at the Sonesta allowed me to leverage their terrific location for some really fun and creative compositions. The bride and groom both got ready at Sonesta, which had these wonderful little balconies that allowed you to step out and smell the salty air. A local music festival taking place outside the hotel that day allowed for some added refreshment during portraits, and I got my first view INSIDE of a food truck. We traveled to the Sacred Heart Church in the North end for their ceremony, and we made the most of the historic textures around us for some fun bridal party photographs afterwards. Their cocktail hour back at the Royal Sonesta had the best backdrop I’ve ever seen: an above-ground view of the Back Bay Boston skyline. The weather was perfect on their wedding day, and everything came together in a way no one could have anticipated. I was lucky enough to have Jamie Ivins along with me for the ride, who helped create this beautiful chronicle. Congratulations Christina and Garrett!
This veil was Christina’s mother’s from her wedding day. Such a beautiful tradition to carry forward.
Christina steps off the trolley in the North End and heads for the church. She’s a little excited.
Sacred Heart church is incredibly ornate. I loved collecting all the unique details in my camera.
The North End has always reminded me of New York City, and never more than in this photograph.
A post-wedding pick me up from Modern Mike’s Pastry. Never a bad idea.
Cocktail hour view. Mic drop.
I love the huge windows in the ballroom at the Royal Sonesta.
Christina and Garrett share their first dance.
